Abstract
1392727 Spring door closers DORMABAUBESCHLAG GmbH & CO KG 7 Dec 1972 [10 Dec 1971] 56578/72 Heading E2M [Also in Division F2] A spring door closer has a shaft 11, to be coupled to a door, which interacts by way of cam plate 17 with a spring 31 applying a closing force, and drives a piston 33 of a hydraulic damper to cause flow of fluid from chamber 40, as the door closes, through varying throttling means 44, 49 according to the position of the door, a relatively weak throttling action (through means 49) being provided in the region between a closed position on a normal open position of the door, in which region the surface of the cam 17 has a constant rise causing a constant displacement of the piston for unit rotation of the shaft 11, and a relatively strong throttling action (through means 44) being provided in the region of the normal open position, in which region the cam surface has a greater rise so that unit rotation of the shaft 11 causes a displacement of the piston at least 1.3 times the said constant displacement. Thus a greater amount of fluid must be throttled from the chamber through means 44 for a given rotation of the door in the region of the open position than during subsequent closing, when a less amount is throttled through means 49, movement of the piston 33 having uncovered part 48. Thus closing of the door from, for example 90‹ to 70‹, when roller 28 is engaging cam portion 21 is slower than at lesser or greater angles. Specifications 1259030 and 1392489 are referred to.
