Abstract

1414341 Anti-skid brake control systems TELDIX GmbH 15 March 1973 [16 March 1972] 12603/73 Heading F2F An anti-skid brake control system for a vehicle with a trailer comprises means for producing a signal corresponding to the vehicle speed, a comparator element for comparing this signal or a signal dependent thereon with a signal corresponding to the speed of at least one trailer wheel, the comparator output signal passing to a modifying element to produce a signal to control the trailer brakes in accordance with the trailer wheel speed. A unit 7 accepts signals from wheel speed sensors 4 for vehicle front wheels 1a, 1b, with, possibly, deceleration sensors, these signals being delayed in store units 6. The output from the unit 7 is fed to comparators 8a, 8b, 9a, 9b which each compare the signal with signals corresponding to the speed of each wheel la, 1b, 2a, 2b, the outputs controlling brakes 5 for the wheels. The output from unit 7 also passes to a comparator 11 which also accepts a signal from a unit 12 which compares individual trailer wheel speed signals and chooses the higher value. The comparator output passes to a resistor-capacitor unit 13 to damp out residual fluctuations and then to control a variable resistance unit 10 also fed by a direct signal from the unit 7 in an open loop control. The resistance unit output is fed to comparators for the trailer wheels similar to those 8a-9b for the vehicle wheels. The variable resistance unit comprises a transistor controlled by the comparator 11 in series with a fixed resistance, the unit output being tapped off between the transistor and resistance. A closed loop control may be added, comprising a feedback to the unit 13 from a comparator having inputs from the resistance unit 10 and the trailer wheel speed comparator 12. Alternatively, the resistance unit is replaced by a variable amplifier accepting the signal from the unit 7 and feeding the comparator 11, the amplifier being controlled by the output from the unit 13.
