Abstract
1421008 Hydraulic shock absorbers; seals MONROE BELGIUM NV 9 March 1973 [13 March 1972] 11626/73 Headings F2S and F2B In a pressurized hydraulic piston-cylinder shock absorber the piston-rod guide and the end closure member are combined in a single member 36 having a cavity 46 in which is disposed part of a sealing element 52, the element having an integral portion 60 extending radially outwardly adjacent the outer side of the member 36 with a peripheral part 62 engaged between the member 36 and the cylinder to provide a seal between them, and two axially spaced radially inwardly projecting portions 56, 58 engaging the piston-rod 24, the sealing element being held against the piston-rod by an annular spring 70, and by the pressure of the liquid in the cylinder, communicated to the cavity 46 via passages 48, 50. An arrangement for a tube-within-a-tube type shock absorber is also depicted (Fig. 2, not shown).
