Abstract
1433109 Suspension preheaters POLYSIUS AG 3 April 1974 [15 May 1973] 14767/74 Heading F4B In a combined suspension preheater 1 of the multiple cyclone and whirl chamber type and a rotary furnace 4 for the burning of fine ground cement raw materials, fuel burners 9 are disposed in the gas pipe 5 leading to the first pair of cyclones 2 and 3 below the point 7 at which preheated materials enter said pipe. Above the burner 9 is a bridge shaped distributor member 8 and additional reserve burners 10 are disposed above the point 7. In a modification (Fig. 4) the invention is shown applied to a shaft type suspension preheater formed with a series of restrictions spaced vertically above one another. The O 2 content of the gases in the firing zone is in the range 5-14%, preferably 8-12%.
