Abstract
1441507 Capacitors ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 4 Oct 1974 [6 Oct 1973] 43077/74 Heading H1M In a capacitor comprising capacitor element 13 encased by encapsulation 29 and housing 25, a cut-out device responsive to increase in pressure comprises a brittle non-resilient plate 10 abutting a side of element 13, plate 10 having a conductor 11 deposited thereon or adhesively attached thereto and forming part of a capacitor lead, deformation of the capacitor element itself fracturing the brittle plate 10 and breaking conductor 11. The time lag associated with prior art cut-out means is stated to be reduced. The capacitor element may be a flattened roll or a stack with plate 10 abutting a flat surface. Plate 10 may have a groove 12 to provide a fracturing location. Preferably, as shown, resilient material 30, e.g. foamed plastics with closed pores, is interposed between plate 10 and the encapsulating material 29, so that outward deformation of the capacitor element is not hindered.
