1444824 Automatic timing control SIEMENS AG 12 Oct 1973 [22 Nov 1972] 47706/73 Heading H3A A synchronous data transmission system in which data transmission is effected using a carrier which is at least partially suppressed and in which the receiving end includes a first automatic phase control arrangement 25 for the carrier phase and a second automatic phase control arrangement 26 for the pulse train phase is characterized in that a coupling device 27 is provided such that, in the event of a change in carrier phase, a change is automatically effected in the pulse train phase, or vice versa. In one embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the phase of the carrier is adjusted by adding or subtracting by means of a control stage (29) and the pulses at the input of a divider (30) pulse train phase is adjusted by a similar divider (34) and control stage (33). In this embodiment the coupling device is a pulse doubler (35) whose output controls the pulse train phase in dependence on the carrier phase.
