Abstract
1447385 Screeds for asphalt parers BARBER-GREENE CO 12 Nov 1973 [21 Nov 1972] 52500/73 Heading E1G A screed 15 for an asphalt parer comprises a screed plate 35, the trailing edge of which is supported by transversely spaced leaf spring assemblies 33 on bracket arms 20 extending from a transverse pivotally mounted tube 16, and the leading edge of which is subjected to vibratory motion by weights 43 eccentrically mounted on a shaft 42 which rotates in bearings fixed to the screed, whereby the degree of vertical vibratory motion decreases from the leading edge of the screed to the trailing edge. The rotation of the eccentric weights causes springs 46 above the leading edge of the screed to be compressed and release of this compression increases the energy of the downward stroke of the vibratory motion of the leading edge. A hand cranking device 26 is provided to adjust the angle of attack of the screed. A strike off plate 18 of adjustable attack angle and a spreader 14 is also provided.
