Abstract
1447734 Superconductors KABEL-UND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE AG 10 April 1974 [13 April 1973] 15884/74 Heading H1A A superconductive or other low temperature electrical cable comprises a plurality of concentric metal tubes and conductor strands 5 which are disposed within the innermost tube and are carried by cylindrical supporting elements 1, of generally annular cross-section, provided with longitudinal grooves 2 along their outer surface and loosely connected together by connecting elements 4, Fig. 3, or (3), Fig. 2 (not shown). The conductor strands are wound spirally on the supporting elements which are preferably made from fluoro-olefin resin, the grooves 5 allowing for virtually unhindered flow of the refrigerating medium, e.g. helium. The connecting elements are, e.g. wires exhibiting meanders 4, or clips (3) of metal or synthetic resin material, uniformly distributed around the periphery of each end of each of the supporting elements.
