Abstract

1461835 Valves E A I OLSSON 24 April 1974 [30 April 1973] 17927/74 Heading F2V A closure member 14, Fig. 1, loaded to open position regulates flow by successively closing by-pass channels 18, 19, 20 in the valve housing. In a modification, the closure member is biased to a central position by opposed springs (17a, 17b, Fig. 2) to regulate flow in either direction and may operate a contact for an electric alarm when in one of its end positions. Biasing may also be effected by electric coils (29, Fig. 4) and the closure member be constructed as a magnet. These coils, in a further embodiment, or electronic means 25, Fig. 3, may be used as part of a flow meter, the means 25 sensing the position of a magnetic ring 24 on the closure member which may be shaped as shown to dampen its movement towards the end of its travel. The valve may be used in the hot water inlet of a mixer tap or to stop leakage due to fracture in a pipe system.
