Abstract
1462124 Printing on bags; blocking NORWOOD MARKING & EQUIPMENT CO Inc 9 May 1974 [10 May 1973 26 Oct 1973] 20466/74 Headings B6C and B6J Bags 18 are printed upon by inflating a bag, e.g. by air from nozzle 25, at least partially deflating the bag, and bringing a surface of the bag in the deflated area into contact with a printing surface. As shown, anvil 63 is pivoted by cam surface 50 in reciprocating slide 13. This deflates the end part of the bag (held in support 32) and urges the top surface against type face 31. Alternatively (Fig. 5, not shown) a pneumatic actuator may be provided to pivot the anvil. As shown, the printing is by blocking using a heated type face. The foil is fed between rolls 11 and 12 by rollers 71 actuated upon reciprocation of slide 13 by pneumatic cylinder 35. Alternatively, the type face may be inked by a roller, or may print through an ink ribbon.
