Abstract

1466985 Electron beam deflecting system TEKTRONIX Inc 30 May 1974 [19 July 1973] 23969/74 Heading H1D To support a flat-faced helical delay line in a cathode-ray tube, in order to provide an irregularity-free travelling field between the line 22 and either a similar complementary line 23 or an earth plane (Figs. 1, 2, 3, not shown) to deflect an electron beam, the teeth 19 of a dielectric comb, integral with a dielectric base or inserted into holes in a glass rod 20, are bonded to every turn or to a fraction of the turns of the helix. Various arrangements of balanced or single sided deflection systems are illustrated (Fig. 3, not shown). The dielectric supports may be made slightly conducting if necessary to bleed stray charge.
