Abstract
1479421 Indicating liquid levels CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 5 Feb 1976 [12 June 1975] 04543/76 Heading G1H An oil level indicator attached to a reservoir 14 in a vehicle, e.g. a scraper tractor, comprises a tube 17 the lower open end of which is below the lowest permissible oil level and the upper end is in a readily visible position, the tube containing a float 31 supporting a rod 30, the upper end of the rod being visible to give an indication of oil level. A sight glass fitting 24 may be attached to the open end of the tube and an enlargement 32 at the top of the rod is visible through the glass 29. In another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown) the tube is secured in the reservoir filler pipe and has a double sight glass at its upper end, the enlargement being visible in the upper glass for the «full» position and in the lower glass for the «add oil» position.
