Abstract
1488200 Paper-making apparatus VALMET OY 14 Aug 1975 [20 Aug 1974] 33825/75 Heading D2A A strip such as the upper slice lip 20 of a headbox is supported by a support plate 18 which is suspended from an upright wall 13a at or adjacent only two longitudinally spaced points by elements 23, the two points being spaced 2/9 L from the ends of the plate 18 (where L is the plate length) such that the effect of deformation of the wall 13a on the vertical position of the strip is minimised, adjustment means in the form of spindles 21 being mounted on the plate 18 and attached to the strip to allow fine adjustment of the strip transversely of its length in a vertical plane, the strip being held against the wall 13a by a holder 19. Where the strip is a slice lip 20 as shown such an arrangement minimises variation of the slice width across the headbox. Coarse slice lip adjustment is effected by means 17 for pivoting the beam 13, of which the wall 13a is part, about pivot 15. Screws 24 attaching the plate 18 to the wall 13a pass with clearance through holes in the plate so that they transmit no vertical forces between the plate 18 and the beam 13.
