Abstract
1511591 Vortex generating flowmeter FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 8 March 1976 [28 April 1975] 09122/76 Headings G1G and G1R Flow measuring apparatus comprises a Venturi section with an elongated member 48 in the throat portion 30; electrical means mounted adjacent the throat for measuring the rate at which vortices are generated; and a thermally insulating cover 64, 66 over the electrical means. The apparatus is similar to that described in Specification 1511592. The vortices are counted either by Piezo-electric devices 52, 54 mounted on circuit boards 56, 58 or by thermal sensing circuits. Means for sensing airpressure and temperature may be included. The apparatus is used to determine the flow into an I.C. engine where the cover protects the circuitry from heat and corrosive atmosphere and plastics coated conductive sheets 60, 62 shield the circuitry from e.m. interference.
