Abstract
1517575 Steam turbine plant HITACHI Ltd 6 Aug 1975 [9 Aug 1974] 32948/75 Heading F1T In a steam turbine plant including a turbine 20 from which steam is extracted to heat a boiler feed water heater 60, malfunction of the heater is detected by an increase in the drain level 32 therein, and is effective to decrease the supply of steam to the turbine and to cut-off the extraction of steam from the turbine to the heater 60. As shown, a sensor 51 detects the increase of drain level to a first abnormal level, and is effective to provide a signal to an audible and/or optical alarm 40 and to a one-way valve 11. When the drain level reaches a second predetermined level, sensor 52 is effective on AND gate 41 which provides a signal to runback circuit 42 controlling a motor 43 of the main turbine throttle valve 10 to close it by a predetermined amount. When this closure is detected at 44, or after a predetermined time lag, an AND gate 45 produces a signal provided to an OR gate 46 which is effective to close a valve 12 in the steam extraction pipe between the turbine and preheater, and to close cut-off valves 13, 14 and open a by-pass valve 15 of the pre-heater. Should the drain level reach a third predetermined level before the motor 43 has closed the valve 10 by the predetermined amount, a sensor 53 provides a signal to AND gate 48 which produces a signal for OR gate 46 to close valves 12, 13, 14 and open valve 15. More than one pre-heater may be provided, Fig. 1, (not shown), each of which may provide a signal to the runback circuit 42 to indicate malfunction. A de-aerator (7) may be provided.
