Abstract
1522538 Adjustable foot rests EVEREST AND JENNINGS Inc 19 Oct 1976 [24 Oct 1975] 43302/76 Heading A4J A foot rest assembly for a wheelchair comprises a generally horizontal journalling tube 16 connected at one end to a support tube 13 adapted to be secured to a wheelchair, a foot rest plate 12 having an integral semi-cylindrical configuration 17 along one side defining end journally openings 18, 19 receiving said tube 16 so that the plate 12 may be swung from a generally horizontal to a generally vertical plane, said journalling openings including inner axial grooves 26, 27, and plastics friction sleeves 20, 21 in said openings 18, 19 surrounding said tube 16, said sleeves having outer axial ribs 28 received in grooves 26, 27 for locking the sleeves against rotation in said openings 18, 19 and cylindrical segments such as 33 forward by axial slots such as 29 biased inwardly to frictionally grip tube 16 to retain plate 12 in any desired angular position. The plate 12 is held axially on tube 16 by a removable end cap 23 and collar 22.
