1522809 Vinyl aromatic polymer compositions MONSANTO Ltd 26 Aug 1976 [26 Sept 1975] 39476/75 Heading C3M Tough, heat-resistant compositions comprise (1) an elastomer-toughened vinyl or substituted vinyl aromatic polymer and (2) 0À2-10% microcrystalline wax of average MW 400-700 and containing 40-50 C atoms, the compositions not containing a metallic peroxide. The polymer may be toughened with an alkadiene elastomer copolymerized or blended therewith, and the wax may be blended with the polymer or added to the vinyl aromatic monomer before polymerization. The polymer may be blend or graft copolymer of styrene or an alkyl styrene, optionally together with acrylonitrile, with butadiene, isoprene or chloroprene elastomer.
