Abstract
1522847 Hydraulic lifting device DOVER CORP 24 Oct 1975 [25 Oct 1974] 43693/75 Heading F1D [Also in Division B8] An hydraulic lifting device comprises a first cylinder 12, and a piston 14, having an axial bore 42, the piston 14 slidably engaging both the first cylinder and a second cylinder 10. Hydraulic fluid introduced into the cylinder 12 from an inlet 36, passes through the bore 42 into the cylinder 10 which moves upwards due to the fluid-pressure, the piston 14 remaining stationary until a spring 28 engages a flange 20 whereupon the piston travels upwards with the cylinder 10 until a flange 22 contacts the upper end of the cylinder 12. Whilst hydraulic fluid is being supplied, entrapped air may be vented through vents 32, 34. Retraction of the piston 14 and cylinder 10 is accomplished by allowing hydraulic fluid to escape through the inlet 36. The lifting device is mounted for movement of a lift installation in which the cylinder 10 forms a rigidly integrated vertical support member of a lifting frame for a lift cage. Support members 46, 48 which are rigidly attached to the cylinder 10 and a follower guide 64, rigidly attached to the piston 14, carry rail guides 50, 52 and 66, which engage rails 58 and may either be of the roller or sliding type. The cylinder 12 is fixedly mounted in a hole formed in a floor 60.
