Abstract
1523275 Automatic control of speed CAV Ltd 4 Aug 1975 [20 Aug 1974] 36549/74 Heading G3R A control system for a gas turbine engine includes a memory matrix 25 which is addressed by digital signals representing a first engine operating parameter to provide an output signal in the form of a desired value for a second engine operating parameter and this signal is compared with an actual value signal derived from a respective transducer and a control action mode to remove any error. The memory matrix 25 contains data relating to the relationship between the various engine operating parameters and also constants such as speed and temperature limits as well as control data used to calculate fuel and nozzle angle requirements. The memory is assessed by an address selector 28 controlled by program counter 26. An auxiliary logic stage 29 is included to provide a response to switch inputs for starting, acceleration and the like and the arithmetic unit 30 carries out addition, subtraction and like operations on the supplied data. During operation the desired data output from the memory matrix is compared with the actual value data stored in latches L2-L7 and the result is used to change the count state stored in latches L9, L10 which act on the respective controls after D/A conversion. The latches L8 and L11 form part of the computing arrangement and are used to temporarily store values. Typical ways in which the data is handled to give the control signals are explained especially when the first engine operating parameter is gas generator speed and the second parameter temperature.
