Abstract

1523461 Golf putters G S BENSON 24 June 1975 [24 Jan 1975] 26804/75 Heading A6D A golf putter has a head 11 comprising a striking face 12 and a top surface 13 from which extend prongs 26-29 to a support member 31, having a hub 32 and splined rod 31 for attachment thereto of a handle, the said prongs being integral with or connected to upper surface and/or said support member. An insert 36, e.g. of clear plastics, is fitted into the generally triangular opening enclosed by prongs 27, 29 and surface, 13, the insert having a rib (47) (Fig. 6, not shown) engageable in a notch 46 and a pointed tip (48) which engages in a groove 18 extending to the striking face and forming a sighting device. To further retain the insert in position, the insert is provided with flanges (38, 39) having upstanding portions (41, 42) engageable in triangular openings formed between prongs 26, 27, prongs 28, 29 and surface 13 respectively. At its rearward side the pattern head has a recess 19 for reduction of weight.
