Abstract
1525662 Detecting flaws in tablets SHIONOGI & CO Ltd 4 Feb 1976 [21 Feb 1975] 04396/76 Heading G1M Flaws in tablets T are detected by rolling them down a pathway 1 inclined at a small angle α to the horizontal so that normal tablets continue to roll but tablets having defects such as broken edges are stopped and can be removed from the pathway. The tablets may be circular or elliptical and roll on or between shoulders 14, 15 of a pair of parallel rails 10, 11. In cross-section the shoulders may be horizontal or inclined in either direction and the cross section may be uniform throughout the length of the pathway or the space between the shoulders may be varied. Halted tablets may be detected by photo-electric sensing and removed by an electromagnetic solenoid controlled by the sensing means or these operations may be performed manually.
