Abstract

New copper complexes of azo dyes of the formula I are obtained when dyes of the formula VII are subjected to oxidative coppering. The substituents have the following meanings: D = phenylene or naphthylene, optionally substituted by halogen, C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C4-alkoxy, carboxyl, acylamino, sulpho and azo groups, B = direct bond or bivalent bridge member, R = hydrogen or C1-C4-alkyl, Z = radical of a reactive component, the OH group in D being ortho to the azo bridge and n being 0 or 1. The new dyes preparable according to the invention are suitable for dyeing and printing hydroxyl- or amido-containing materials, such as textile fibres, yarns and fabrics made of wool, silk, synthetic polyamide and polyurethane, and for the wash-fast dyeing and printing of native or regenerated cellulose, in which case the treatment of cellulose materials is advantageously carried out in the presence of acid-binding agents with or without heat by the methods which have become known for reactive dyes.
