Abstract
A plant for the continuous casting of copper and copper alloys, which includes a melt supply container 2, a horizontal mould 1 having a cross section which diminishes in the direction of casting, a baffle plate 18 (with openings 19, 20), between the container and the mould, a direct, secondary cooling stage 4 and a mechanism which withdraws the cast strand at a rate sufficient to prevent solidification of the metal adjacent the baffle plate. The mould 1 and container 2 are slidable on rods 8 but are fixed together for casting and for common oscillation by a drive 11.
