Abstract
A device for dosing a flowing fluid, comprising a casing having an inlet and an outlet. Within the casing there is a supply of the additive with which the flowing fluid is to be dosed, the additive being within a bag (58). The bag (58) is mounted on a plate (34) which has a passage (46) in it. A needle valve (48) controls flow of additive throught the passage (46). When fluid flows from the inlet (14) through the cylindrical gap (22) to the outlet (42), the head (49) of the valve (48) is urged by the flowing liquid in the direction which opens the passage (46). This allows additive to flow from the bag (58) under the influence of the external pressure applied thereto as a result of fluid under pressure having entered the liner (18) through an opening (32) in an end wall (30) of the liner (18). The degree to which the valve (48) can open the passage (46) is controlled by an eccentric cam (50) which is operable by a knob (56) from externally of the casing.
