Abstract
1,002,840. Windscreen wiper. K. KIRCHNER. July 12, 1963 [July 31, 1962], No. 27664/63. Heading A4F. [Also in Division F2] A windscreen wiper has means for changing the drive of the wiper from/to continuous to/from intermittent wiping. The wiper shaft 8 engages the bore of a cylindrical projection 5 on the wiper drive 4 and levers 9 and 10 of different thickness and under spring pressure are eccentrically mounted adjacent the bore. A pin 12 fixed to the drive 4 engages slots in a gear-wheel 14 having a disc 15 mounted thereon and as the wheel rotates the disc prevents the thicker lever 10 from swinging out beyond the periphery of the cylindrical projection 5 except when the position of the wheel is such that the lever 10 is adjacent a recess 16 in the disc when it can then spring out. On counter clockwise rotation of the wiper drive the thinner lever 9 engages the driver 11 of the wiper shaft to bring about continuous wiping, but on clockwise rotation the thicker lever is kept in a neutral position by the disc 15 except in the one above-mentioned position when it can spring out and engage the driver 11 of the wiper shaft to cause intermittent wiping. The direction of rotation of the wiper drive can be changed by means of a switch.
