Abstract

1,002,872. Hydraulic reciprocating pumps. UNIPAI A.G. Feb. 19, 1964 [March 1, 1963], No. 6950/64. Heading F1A. In a rotary cylinder hydraulic pump or motor, opposed pistons 6, 7 in cylinders 5 act on plates 3, 16 which have surfaces 14, 15 of fixed inclination to the axis of rotation. The plate 16 is adjustable about the rotational axis to vary the effective displacement of the pistons in the cylinders. A gear train 48, 49, 55, 51 couples the plate 16 and a valve plate 38 for rotation via sleeves 46, 47 and a support 29. The gear ratios are such that the valve plate 38 rotates at half the rate of the plate 16, to ensure that the cylinder ports are approximately between the ports 44, 45 in the valve plate 38 at the ends of the piston strokes. The hydraulic pressure in the bores within which are located the sleeves 46, 47 ensures contact between the valve plate 38 and the cylinder block 4. In an alternative embodiment a pintle valve may replace the face valve or in the case of a pump only, non-return valves may be used.
