Abstract
1,021,807. Flash apparatus. AGFA A.G. Aug. 28, 1964 [Aug. 31, 1963], No. 35398/64. Heading G2A. In a battery driven supplementary electrical apparatus 10 for attachment to an original electrical apparatus 1 (in this case a flash attachment for a photographic camera) operable at mains voltage and having a plug or socket 8 therein for mains connection, the apparatus 10 is temporarily brought into firm, flush connection with the apparatus 1 by means of a plug 11 being inserted in the socket 8, a converter being provided within the apparatus 10 to convert the low potential, direct current from the battery into alternating current of higher potential. The apparatuses 1, 10 are maintained in alignment by spring clips 12 and recesses 13, as well as pins 18 and bores 19. A socket 14 (of the same dimensions as the socket 8) is provided so that the battery of apparatus 10 may be changed from the mains, a changeover switch 15 being provided. Further, a switch arrangement may be provided within the socket 14 giving rise to automatic changeover to charging, and operating switch 15 to prevent operation of the generator. The invention is also applicable to other electrical apparatus, e.g. shavers and coffee mills, and may be used with apparatus intended for D.C. mains, in which case, no converter is required.
