Abstract
An information display system comprises a photochromic screen on which is projected the image to be displayed, e.g. a p.p.i. cathode-ray display, a flying-spot scanner which repeatedly scans the screen, and a control circuit to vary the intensity of the flying-spot light beam according to the optical density of each successive point of the image on the screen in such a way as to maintain the beam after transmission through the screen at a constant intensity. The flying-spot light beam may be of such intensity as to allow a gradual decay of the photochromic image, or so intense as to retain the image until the flying-spot beam is interrupted. Two or more images may be projected simultaneously on to the photochromic screen.
