Abstract

1,048,781. Mechanical switches, without quick action. M. H. DELTOER. Jan. 19, 1965 [Jan. 20, 1964], No. 2313/65. Heading H2B. A multiposition rotary switch comprises a frame housing operating shaft 4, rotation of which rotates bevel gear annulus 6 which drives bevel pinions 10a having integrally with them spur pinion sections 10b which drive in opposite directions two rotors, each rotor comprising spur gear 15, hub 16 and detent disc 24. The hub 16 of each rotor has a groove 17 housing a slider contact 18 the central portion of which makes contact with a central pin 21 by engaging washer 21c or pin 21 and the slide portion of which contacts contacts 20 arranged in a circle in insulating disc 19 mounted in plate 12. The ends of contacts 20, 21 project through disc 19 to form terminals. The two plates 12 are held together by distance pieces 14. The detent disc 24 on each rotor has detent teeth 26 which are engaged by a leaf spring 27 supported in slots 28 in distance pieces 14. In a modification each rotor hub 16 may carry two diametrically opposed sliders in its groove 17 in which case central pin 21 and washer 21c are omitted and a pair of separate contact plates 31, Fig. 9 (not shown), provided instead having lugs which project through disc 19 to form terminals.
