Abstract

1,050,059. Disc brakes. ALLBAU ENTWICKLUNG G.m.b.H. Sept. 20, 1965 [Sept. 19, 1964], No. 40021/65. Heading F2E. A disc brake of the floating caliper type comprises a housing 5 fitted loosely between pairs of arms 13 of a fixed anchor plate 6, each pair of arms straddling an annular disc 2 secured by bolts 3 at its outer edge to a hub member 4 (Fig. 2, not shown), and a pair of pads 7 whose backing plates 8 are slidable on a rod 9 carried by the housing and which abut surfaces 16 of the arms 13, the assembly of pads and housing being retained and guided between the pairs of arms 13 by balls 20 which are loaded by springs 19 in bores 18 in the arms and engage in recesses 21, preferably in the ends of the backing plates 8 as shown, but which may alternatively be in the housing 5. A cylinder 11 on the housing 5 applies one pad directly and the other by reaction through the housing.
