1,054,699. Adhesive compositions. HOWARDS OF ILFORD Ltd. Dec. 1. 1965 [Dec. 8, 1964], No. 49963/64. Headings C3P and C3Q. A method of making a heat-activable adhesive composition comprises mixing a natural or synthetic latex with an aqueous dispersion containing a surface-active agent and a solid, waterinsoluble compound which is a di- or tri-ester of a polybasic carboxylic acid, an organic triester of phosphoric acid, an anilide of an aliphatic carboxylic acid, or a nuclear-substituted aromatic sulphonamide. The dispersion preferably contains a hydrophilic colloid. The preferred solid compound is dicyclohexyl phthalate and the preferred latex is a vinyl acetate polymer latex mixed with natural rubber or styrene-butadiene rubber.
