Abstract

1,059,215. Fuel elements. GESELLSCHAFT FUR KERNFORSCHUNC m.b.H. July 14, 1964 [Aug. 17, 1963], No. 28994/64. Heading G6C. A fast fission reactor core utilizes radially extending longitudinally finned fuel elements, which fins also serve as spacers, and which inelude hooks open in the axial direction and engaged with corresponding hooks on adjacent fuel element fins. Spaces 7 between interlocked fins act as coolant passages. The hooks have angled facets 3 which prevent the fuel elements from twisting relative to each other. As shown, Fig. 2, the fuel elements are assembled by horizontal and then vertical relative movements to engage the hooks.
