Abstract
A coating composition for articles made from polymers of propylene comprises a solution of cyclized rubber and petroleum resin in a suitable solvent therefor. Other ingredients such as alkyd resins, polypropylene, plasticizers, silicones, organic and inorganic pigments, dyestuffs, thickeners, and dispersing agents may also be present. Suitable solvents include xylene and isophorone. To improve gloss and weatherability phenolformaldehyde resins, chlorinated rubber, and antioxidants may be added.ALSO:Articles made from polymers of propylene are coated with a composition comprising a solution of cyclized rubber and petroleum resin in a suitable solvent therefor. Other ingredients exemplified are pigments, dispersing agents antioxidants, silicones, silica gel, copper oleate, otoctic polypropylene, dibutyl and dioctylphthalate, chlorinated rubber, and rosin-modified phenol resin. Suitable solvents are toluene, xylene, mineral turpentine and isophorone. The compositions may be sprayed or printed on to the substrate.
