Abstract

1,065,102. Rotisseries. SUNBEAM CORPORATION. Jan. 7, 1965 [May 25, 1964], No. 748/65. Heading A4D. In a rotisserie, a spit 19 or other member rotates before a stationary inverted U-shaped electric heating element 14 and is supported on a spindle 17 journalled in a circular base plate 10 which also carries the heater, electric spit-driving motor 21 and removable cylindrical metallic glasstopped enclosure 12. A drip tray 18 is releasably mounted on spindle 17 and has a conical boss 41 for frictional engagement with a complementary socket 43 on the spit 19. Food supporting disc 20 rests on a seating 44. In another form, (Fig. 7, not shown), a modified drip tray (181) carries kebab spits (70) in bosses (72) in a circular path about spindle 17. Spits (70) are each rotated step-wise about their own axes by engagement of their ratchet wheels (74) with a tooth (751) which is resiliently mounted on plate 10 at the foot of heater 14. In an alternative arrangement, spit 19 is replaced by a wire food basket (60) (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown). A heat reflector 15 is detachably mounted on the base plate 10.
