Abstract

1,070,669. Valves. GROVE VALVE & REGULATOR CO. Nov. 29, 1965 [Jan. 15, 1965], No. 50627/65. Heading F2V. A valve closure 30 is carried by an arm 32 which is rotatable by a shaft 40 to move the closure clear or over the seat 26, the closure being movable axially, when aligned with seat, into or out of sealing engagement with the seat. As shown, the closure carries a screwthreaded member 72 which engages an internal screw thread of a sleeve 74. The sleeve is carried by the arm 32 and is rotatable but is prevented from axial movement with respect to the arm whereby rotation of the sleeve moves the member 72 and hence the closure 30 axially. The sleeve carries a sprocket wheel 92 which is connected by a chain 94 to a sprocket 96 which is rotated by a shaft 98 extending through the shaft 40. A bellows 84 seals theclosure and arm. The valve housing has covers such as 104 to provide access to covers 110 and 112 in the arm for repair or lubricating purposes. The arm also carries rollers 60 which run on track of the housing. In a modification the closure is moved by fluid pressure acting on a piston, the fluid lines being fed through the shaft and arm. In a further modification the closure is moved by a lever pivoted in the arm.
