Abstract
An arc welding electrode having a core containing more than 50% Ni and/or Cu has a basic flux coating containing:- .Fe-Nb and/or Fe-Ta.10-20% .titanium dioxide.15-25% alkaline earth metal carbonates, e.g. lime, 30-40% .cryolite.20-30% .Fe-Mn.5-10% metal powder from Cu, Ni, Al, Fe, Co traces The core may be 70-80% Ni, 5-10% Fe, 10-20% Cr. Small quantities of other metals, e.g. Ti, Al, Mn, Si, may be included in the core. A silicate binder may be used.
