Abstract
1,075,069. Control systems for discharge lamps. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 10, 1965 [March 12, 1964], No. 10179/65. Heading H2H. In a circuit for a pair of reverse parallel controlled rectifiers, the, control voltage is of sinusoidal form with a steep leading edge and the trailing zero lagging behind the supply voltage zero. A transducter 39 varies the phase of the voltage across points 44, 45. When point 44 is positive with respect to point 45 a diode 46 is conductive rendering a transistor 50 conductive which completes a circuit through components 55, 56, 57, 58, causing a current to flow in a winding 57 which fires rectifier 7. The voltage on winding 59 is phase shifted 30 degrees by resistor 61 and capacitor 60. In the next half cycle transistor 49 becomes conductive. The load 9 may be one or more dischage tubes. Where a number of circuits are to operate in parallel a. switch 43 is moved to position 64 which is connected to a common control circuit.
