Abstract
1,079,053. Cine projection apparatus. MINNESOTA MINING & MANUFACTURING CO. July 15, 1964 1 July 15, 1963 No.29205/64. Heading G2E. An intermittent drive mechanism for cine projection provides slow-motion viewing of films exposed for normal motion viewing, and comprises a pull-down claw 20 on arm 21 which may be driven at slow speeds, while disc shutter 24 is driven at the normal frequency. Flicker is thus avoided. The periodic vertical movement of claw 20 is provided by the engagement of shuttle plate 22 with the cam 25 through plates 37a and 37b in recess 36 of the plate. The horizontal film-engaging motion of plate 22 is inparted by cam 26 engaging pin 44 and thereby sliding the plate along cam 25. Shutter 24 rotates at the same speed as cam 25, on shaft 29. Cam 26 is mounted on a worm 28, which drives the film sprockets, and is driven through a shifter sleeve 32 either directly by shaft 29 or at reduced speeds by compound gear 34. Sleeve 32 is slidably keyed to worm 28 by pin 46 and recess 47, and is moved by control 58 and rod 55 from the position shown where pin 48 on shaft 29 engages recess 50 in the sleeve, to a second position where lug 51 on the sleeve enters recess 52 on floater gear 31 for reduced speed drive. The reduced speed may be 1/n that of cam 25 where n to an integer, preferably 3. In an alternative form, the driving shaft 29 is driven either directly by keying to the coaxial mounting of the disc shutter, which has a peripheral friction drive, or through reduction gears as above, depending on the position of a keying pin slidable between two positions within the bore of the shaft. Application to cine cameras is possible. 1,079,061. Photographic silver halide materials. ILFORD Ltd. Aug.11, 1965 [Aug.14, 1964], No. 33240/64. Addition to 1, 004, 302. Heading G2C. Photographic silver halide material having a developer in the emulsion contains in the emulsion or an adjacent layer a metal salt, other than a silver salt, of a 5-mercapto-tetrazole of the formula:- where R is hydrogen or a hydrocarbon group which may be substituted, the said salt having a solubility of at most 0.0015% by weight in water and of at least 0À33% by weight in 20% by weight aqueous ammonium thiocyanate solution. Metal salts specified are those of mercury, copper, cadmium, lead and zinc.
