Abstract
1,081,753. Selective signalling. HONEYWELL Inc. Aug. 11, 1964 [Aug. 16, 1963], No. 32715/64. Heading G4H. In a voltage digitizing circuit, Fig. 1, an unknown A.C. voltage 20 is compared with a known voltage 143 and the difference signal controls the application of pulses 32 to a counter 33 which in turn controls the known voltage. The frequency of the pulses 32 which are counted corresponds to the magnitude of the difference signal, and the direction of counting upon the phase of the difference signal, this causing one of two leads 30, 31 to be marked. The reference voltage is produced by binarily weighted resistors 125, 126 &c., and the counter is arranged to have a “centre-zero ” by subtracting from the reference voltage a voltage 144, 140, corresponding to half its maximum capacity. Suitable transistor bistable units are described (Fig. 3, not shown), for the counter, and a phase-discriminating and pulse-generating circuit (Fig. 3, not shown), is described.
