Abstract

1,085,064. Testing apparatus. PLESSEYUK Ltd. March 28, 1966 Feb.17, 1965], No. 6903/65. Heading G1S. [Also in Division F2] Mechanical shock producing apparatus comprises an equipment mounting platform 2 including an impactor 7 which is arranged to drop under gravity so that consequent upon the impacter striking a bed structure 11 a mechanical shock wave is transmitted through the platform to the equipment 14 under test, the equipment mounting platform comprising fibrous and/or laminated material capable of clamping vibrations interposed between the equipment mounting surface and the impacter. The equipment platform comprises upper and lower resin blocks 2, 3, the lower block 3 and a further block 5 having a layer of nylon rubber 6 sandwiched between them. The impacter 7 is secured to the block 5 and the block 3 is secured to block 1 by webs 4. An accelerometer 15 is mounted on the platform to give an indication on an oscilloscope of the shock wave transmitted to the component. The platform structure moves on rails 16 and is lifted by an electric motor.
