Abstract

1,085,243. Releasable fastenings. V. F. ZAHODIAKIN. Oct. 2, 1964 [April 6, 1964], No. 40280/64. Headings E2A and E2B. [Also in Division F2H] A pair of yoked members 35, Fig. 3, kept in place by a circlip 40, Fig. 2, or one yoked member 45, Fig. 9, kept in place by acting as a circlip itself, each have afoot 39 or 47 for engagement under a raised detent 26, Figs. 2, 5, formed at the end of a slot 25 extending from an aperture 24 in a metal or plastics panel 20 so that a barrel nut 32, Figs. 2, 6 or 32A, Fig. 11, embraced by the yokes 35 or yoke 45, is anchored to the panel to receive a free bolt 22 securing a member 21 to the panel. Each yoke foot 39 or 47 is manoeuvred into its closed-sided detent 26, to engage the underface 27 of the latter, by tilting the yoke, e.g. as indicated in ghost lines in Fig. 2, before the yoke arms are lowered on to a part-circular flange 33, Fig. or 42, Fig. 11, of the nut. In the embodiment of Figs. 2, 3 and 6, the two yokes with their arm ends 37 abutting, encircle the nut barrel and a central leg 38 of each, bearing the foot 39, locates in a gap 34 in the nut flange 33 to prevent rotation of the nut. In line with and adjacent each gap 34, under the flange 33, the nut has a lug 341 locating in one of the panel slots 25. The yoke-retaining circlip 40 is sprung into a nut-groove 41. In the other embodiment, Figs. 9 and 11, the nut flange- 42 has one gap 44 (for receiving the leg of the circlip-yoke 45) and an adjacent lug 44 under the flange and, diametrically opposite the gap and lug, a lug 431 extending across the whole flange-width with an extension 43 beyond, forming a foot 43 for engagement under one of the panel detents 26, Fig. 5. The circlip-yoke 45 springs into a nut-groove above the flange, Fig. 8, (not shown), and to keep the yoke foot 47 in position under the detent 26, a spacer extension 52, at the top of the yoke but adjacent the leg which carries the foot, bears against the nut barrel above the groove.
