Abstract
1,091,359. Switchgear arrangements; vacuum switches. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. July 18, 1966 [Aug. 13, 1965], No. 32115/66. Heading H2B. A three-phase switchgear has a fixed structure 10 carrying horizontal bus-bars 30; three fixed isolatng contacts (55) connected thereto by studs 36 vertically spaced apart and three further fixed isolating contacts connectible to cables 47 and which are spaced apart vertically and spaced horizontally and vertically from their corresponding bus-bar contacts (55) and a horizontally withdrawable carriage 28 on which are three vacuum switches 62 mounted with their longitudinal axes horizontal (Fig. 3, not shown) and each being connected to two staggered terminal studs 95, 96 carrying movable isolating contacts (Fig. 8, not shown). The vacuum switches are carried by staggered insulators 86 attached to two parallel channel girders 80 mounted on the carriage 28 and are operated from a vertical shaft (125) (Fig. 4, not shown) through a lost motion coupling (140). The isolating contacts (55, 57) are shrouded by insulators 38 carrying current transformers 42. The carriage 28 can be moved into and out of the cubicle 10 by a screw 102 and a handle (104).
