Abstract

A ceramic moulding composition comprises 100 parts of a pre-reacted mixture of silica and aluminate comprising 80-95 parts of fused silica and 5-20 parts of calcium, barium or strontium aluminate; 8-32 parts of hydrolyzed ethyl silicate and 0.12 to 0.5 parts of ammonium acetate. Zircon may partially replace the aluminate.
