Abstract
111,216. Hargreaves, G. W., Hargreaves, A., and Hargreaves, R. Feb. 19, 1917. Wire cards, grinding and sharpening. – For stripping and grinding the cylinder and doffer of carding-engines, the stripping-brush or the grinding – roller is mounted in adjustable bearings so as to operate upon the cylinder and d o ff e r simultaneously and also so that it may be manually moved out of or into operation as required. The bearings a<1> for the axle a are formed in arms or slides a<2> constructed in two parts adjustable on one another by means of screws a<10> and mounted in brackets a<3> adjustably mounted on blocks b<1>. Each arm or slide a<2> is formed at its upper end with a cross slide a<4> to receive a block a<5> carried by an eccentric pin a<6> on each end of a shaft a<7> operated by handles a<8> for raising and lowering the slides. The roller is enclosed in casing, the end frames d of which are provided with slots d<1> to allow of the removal or replacement of the roller and closed partly by slides @ partly by collars on the axle a. The curved part of the casing is formed as a door d<6> hinged along its lower edge near which or attached near the hinge to the door is a comb a<1B> for cleaning the stripping brush. A pipe connexion may be fitted to the casing so that dust &c. may be removed therefrom by connexion with a suction dust-removing plant.
