Abstract
1,114,724. Electrical resistance heaters. B.T.U. ENGINEERING CORPORATION. 1 Feb., 1967 [16 Feb., 1966], No. 4799/67. Heading H5H. In an electrical furnace the turns of a heating coil 19 are located in a ceramic cylinder member 11 by headed ceramic spacers 14 slid into undercut longitudinal grooves 12 in the inner face of the member 11. The projecting portions of the spacers preferably have tapered side and end faces and the spacers themselves are chosen of dimensions appropriate to the coil being used. External connections are made to conductors 21-24 located in external longitudinal grooves 13 and having inturned sections passing through apertures 25, 26 (27, 28) for connection to the coil 19. This construction avoids damage to the assembly resulting from stresses produced on heating.
