Abstract
1,114,741. Moulded containers. GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO. 11 June, 1965 [30 June, 1964], No. 24724/65. Headings B8D and B8P. [Also in Division B5] A container is moulded by the application to a release agent 3 coated drum-shaped former 2 of layers 4, 8 of polyurethane, natural rubber, polyolefin rubber, polyester or molten polyolefin which are applied by spray, brush or dipping and which alternate with layers 7 of wire reinforcement or fabric, e.g. knitted or woven fabric (which may be cut into short lengths and also applied by spray), of nylon, wool, cotton, polyester, glass fibres, or fine mesh copper or steel screens, with an intermediate layer 3 of release agent applied between two successive resin layers 8, 10 so that separate inner and outer laminated layers are formed which are joined around the periphery 14 of the moulding and may be separated and removed from the drum as an inflated completely enclosed container, Fig. 3 (not shown), by fluid pressure admitted to between the separate laminated layers. The container may be formed with a pinch type seam at 14 by omitting the intermediate layer 3 of release agent from between the successive resin layers 8, 10 over the region of the seam or, alternatively, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), a lap seam may be formed by turning back a resin layer 16 over a layer of release agent to which a further layer 18 of resin is applied. An inlet fitting 13, Fig. 1 (not shown), is moulded into the container by applying the resin layer around the base thereof. A wire reinforced rectangular container, Fig. 6 (not shown), provided with a handle (28) may be moulded.
