1,128,606. Hydrocarbon conversion catalysts. PULLMAN Inc. 20 Dec., 1965 [29 Dec., 1964], No. 53965/65. Heading B1E. [Also in Division C5] Hydrocarbon conversion catalysts consist essentially of 0À5-15% of Co and/or CoO on a carrier at least 90% of which is ZrO 2 . The ZrO 2 may be associated with smaller quantities of SiO 2 , TiO 2 , CaO, MgO, Fe 2 O 3 or combinations thereof. Physical characteristics of the ZrO 2 disclosed are porosity 33-36%, Specific gravity 5À3-5À6 gms./cc. and surface area less than 1 m2/gm. Comparative examples describe the use of alternative carriers and supported Ni and NiO.
