Abstract
1,135,211. Thiazepine derivatives. GEIGY (U.K.) Ltd. 4 April, 1966 [3 April, 1965], No. 14223/65. Addition to 1,025,691. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C5] The invention comprises thiazepine derivatives of formula wherein A and B are aryl, possibly substituted by halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, hydroxy, ester or amino, and R is C 8-20 alkyl, and a process for making them by cyclizing a 2-n-alkylamidodiphenyl sulphide with excess polyphosphoric acid at an elevated temperature sufficient to ensure a liquid reaction mixture, followed by hydrogenation in presence of a metal hydrogenation catalyst. The analogues in which R is C 1-7 alkyl are also described.
