Abstract

1,135,402. Vibrating conveyers. RUSSELL CONSTRUCTIONS Ltd. 14 Dec., 1965 [18 March, 1965], No. 11599/65. Heading B8A. [Also in Divisions B1 ,B2 and F2] A screen, ball mill, shaking table, ore concentrator or a device for packing powder into a container has a frame 21 vibrated with a circular motion and provided with a ring-shaped seating 19 parallel to a similar seating 17 on a base 12, a resilient deformable ring 18 between the two seatings, an out-of-balance weight 31 on the frame, and means 15 for rotating the out-of-balance weight. In the embodiment shown two out-of-balance weights 31 are separately driven at about 3000 r.p.m. by electrical motors 15 through lengths of rubber tube 32 and may be interconnected in a predetermined phase relationship by sprockets and chains, a notched belt or shafts and gearing, although only one motor and out-of-balance weight may be used. The two seatings are made from sheet metal and embrace a rubber ring 18 enclosed in a non-elastic fabric sock and inflated to a pressure of, say, 1¢1bs per square inch or completely filled with water. Brackets 24 supporting the weights 31 in ball bearings are secured to the frame 21 which is clamped to a sieve 26 in a stainless steel funnel by dogs (not shown). A welded structure of angle irons and plates 14 forms the base. A number of alternative constructions are described in which the zone (38, Fig. 3) dividing the seatings is inclined instead of horizontal to give the sieve a combined rocking and orbital movement, the out-of-balance weights are enclosed, a framework (49, Fig. 4) formed of vertical rods carries a vertical series of sieves and is supported at its upper and lower ends on air cushions (18, 48), an inclined rectangular screen (80, Fig.,7) for separating sludge from solids is supported on an oval-shaped tube (83, Fig. 8), and is vibrated by two out-of-balance weights (87) driven from a single motor (88), a circular sieve (29, Fig. 10) is vibrated by three angularly spaced out-of-balance weights (24) rotated in planes slightly inclined to that of the sieve by a notched belt drive (100) from a single motor, the rotational axis of the motor and out-of-balance weight assembly may be angularly adjusted by the use of slotted supports (108, Fig. 11) the motor driving the out-ofbalance weights also drives a ball mill through a gear box, or the machine is of light portable construction and driven by a small petrol motor.
