Abstract
1,135,537. Photographic apparatus. H. JANSEN. April 21, 1967 [May 3, 1966], No. 18562/67. Heading G2A. [Also in Division G1] An automatic device to facilitate readings of the sedimentation of blood corpuscles in a tube after stated times, such as 1 and 2 hours respectively, comprises crossed light tunnels 2, 3 Fig. 1 each of which is, at one end, adjacent a lightsensitive material 8 and, at its other end, opens into a chamber 4, 5, containing a light source 6, 7, so that when the sedimentation tube 10 is placed at the inter-section 9 of the tunnels and a programming device in chamber 25 is switched on, the lamps 6, 7 are successively illuminated at the required times and the successive levels are consequently shown on the same light-sensitive material 8. Lenses 22, 24 may be provided to focus the light and a scale 17 provided in an additional tunnel 18. The light-sensitive material 8 may pass from a reel (11), Fig. 2 (not shown) in a chamber (12) over a guide (14) to be pressed against the tunnel ends by a pressure plate 16 which also houses a spring puncher 21 to indicate the point at which the light-sensitive strip should be torn off when pulled from the housing. The programming motor 26, controlling a disc 28, is started by a switch (34), Fig. 3 (not shown), when the tube 10 is inserted into the channel 9. After an hour a contact arm (38) on disc 28 makes, and then breaks, a circuit containing lamp 6, after a second hour a second contact arm (40) makes and breaks a circuit containing lamp 7 and immediately afterwards a third contact arm (39) stops the programming motor 26 and disc 28. If more than two exposures are required three or four light tunnels may be provided and polarising films may be interposed between the light source and lightsensitive material 8 to prevent light from one tunnel exposing through another tunnel.
